RTI's 752 Single Layer Bed of Nails Fixture

This semi-custom test fixture is the perfect solution for mid sized PCB or multi site module testing. The standard fixture base uses large thumb screws for quick removal and replacement of both the clear lid piece and interchangeable interface module.
The quick swap interface module, including bed of nails style test bed, offers nearly a full square foot of working area. The interface module can be designed to extend outside of the workable area to accommodate for additional components, and can be milled to allow additional switches and circuitry to be combined with the base. The lid travels almost 4 inches vertically and uses multiple standoffs to apply even pressure at critical areas of the DUT. In some cases, the lid can be cut to allow access to the DUT even after the lid is closed.
A floating plate is drilled for custom placement of pogo pins and uses aluminium pegs to ensure precise alignment of the DUT to the pin tips. When the lid is open and no device is loaded, the plate protects the pogo pin tips from debris and damage. The plane can be held in "testing" position using the same thumb screws found on the lid and interface module to allow access to the pogo pins.
The bench top test fixture can be moved easily by a single person using the two handles mounted to the top of the fixture base.
The 752 series bench top test fixture includes interchangeable electronics designed specifically for the housing and testing of glass touch sensor panels. The fixture can test multiple units simultaneously and accommodate multi-touch sensor panels using resistive touch, capacitive touch, infrared touch and other touch technologies.
Openings in the lid allow for physical access and gold plated pads or spring pins can simulate touch on the back side of the panel. The glass panels are aligned in a floating tray while spring pin (pogo pin) blocks make contact to pads on the flex circuitry that monitors the feedback.
The pin blocks on the floating tray can be customized and positioned to accept a variety of sensor footprint designs. LED pass/fail indicator lights can be installed below the glass for a quick feedback of test results.
Multiple connector types are available for interfacing with the functional tester/measurement system. The mechanical fixture base measures 15”x10”x16” and offers up to 4” of vertical travel.
Customized interface modules can extend wider than the mechanical base allowing for additional sites per test sequence. Additonal touch sensor test and measurement hardware can be included in the fixture's base.
- (1) RTI 752 standard mechanical test fixture assembly.
- (2) Customized interchangeable lid with cut-outs for manual access to UUT.
- (3) Customized spring pin blocks designed for the footprint of the electrical contacts on the UUT
- (4) Multi-site floating “intelligent tray” holds glass in position relative to spring pin blocks (3)
- (5) Touch adaptor plate with floating gold plated aluminum pads to simulate human contact (optional)
- (6) Connectors to external test electronics. Part of an interchangeable test bed that mates with (1)
