RTI offers a complete family of sockets and test fixtures for top side and back side test including micro-probing, backside emission, and heated sockets for temperature testing and liquid crystal testing. RTI's families of sockets and fixtures for FA/engineering test will meet most low pincount applications with 96 or fewer package pins.
RMC3-96 Mini Cards
RTI's RMC3-96 mini cards can be used standalone, or as an interface to RTI fixtures and DUT cards such as the RTI 950-96MC. RTI mini cards can be user-programmed using solder bridges to tie any DUT pin to ground or power. Provisions for filter capacitors are also included.
- Designed for RTI's FA/engineering test sockets.
(Also available for most Plastronics and Yamaichi burn-in sockets up to 96 pins) - Small size: 2.5 inches square
- Any pin can be tied to ground or V+ using solder bridges
- Small 0402 SMT components can be added between any pin and ground or V+
- Available with or without headers
- Space for filter capacitors
Mini Card assemblies are available in several configurations to meet most needs. Mini Card assembles are complete with the RTI test socket and FA low profile screw down lid. RTI sockets have a hole through the center of the socket for backside testing. Heater assemblies are included on the LC series. Male pins are included for use with ZIF fixtures and dedicated fixtures.

950-96MC FA & Engineering Test Fixtures
RTI offers a complete family of failure analysis test fixtures to meet almost any FA testing application. These fixtures use a 100-pin connector to interface to RTI's switch boxes, third-party curve trace systems, functional test systems, and other test equipment. An optional bottom-side connector can be added to allow the test fixtures to plug into dedicated fixtures mounted on probe stations and other test equipment. Custom fixtures are also available for other connector and cable systems.
RTI offers three types of standard fixtures:
- Dedicated (one package type )
- Pogo Pin Interface to RTI Mini-Cards
- ZIF socket interface to RTI Mini-Cards
Each of the three standard fixture types is available for:
- Top side testing (micro-probing)
- Heated top side testing (liquid crystal analysis)
- Back side test (photoemission)
- Heated back-side test

Heated fixtures have a heating element and temperature-sensing device (RTD or Thermistor) built into the mini card assembly. An RTI temperature controller is required for operation.
In the picture above, an RTI 950 series FA fixture is shown mounted on a Signatone Probe station. An RTI light-tight feed-through panel is mounted to the side of the black box to allow up to 384 channels to be connected to switch boxes, automated curve tracers, or other test equipment. RTI also manufactures interfaces to UTI and other automated curve tracers.

RTI 950-128 Failure Analysis Test Fixtures for low frequency and DC analysis: This test fixture is designed for packages up to 128 pins. It can be used for both topside probing and backside emission. Heated versions are also available for both topside and backside applications. It uses RTI's sockets specifically designed for FA applications. Sockets are available for most package types including pitches down to 0.4mm. Interface to test equipment or switch boxes is through standard 64 pin ribbon cables. Optional brackets can hold BNC or SMA connectors. The sockets mount on RTI's mini-cards which interface to the test fixture using pogo pins. The mini-card can also contain a heater and temperature sensor for liquid crystal or temperature testing. |
