Test Fixtures for Semiconductor Wafer Testing & Final Testing

Every integrated circuit (IC) goes through two type of tests before it can be sold and used to build a product: the first is called a wafer test; the second is called final test.
Robson Technologies, Inc. (RTI) has developed a variety of test fixtures and sockets for both wafer testing and final testing of ICs and semiconductors. Request a quote on standard or custom test fixtures and sockets, or contact us to learn more.

Test Sockets for Wafer Testing

Wafer test takes place after wafers are being developed. The purpose of wafer testing is to ensure that wafers are being etched properly prior to dicing and separating them into individual pieces for packaging.
Traditional wafer test requires a test program, a custom test PCB with a probe card installed, and a test probe device. However, as technology improves, more and more test engineers are testing wafer sort applications with socket probes. Devices that pass the wafer test then proceed to be packaged.

Test Fixtures for Final Testing

Final test takes place as wafers are being packaged. The purpose of the final test is to ensure that no devices have been damaged during bonding and packaging.
A typical final test requires a test program, a custom test PCB, an automated handling system, and test equipment. Devices that pass final test will proceed to be sealed and packed as commercial goods ready for sale.
