INNOVATIVE ENGINEERING

RTI has been building an extensive design library of standard and custom test solutions for over 30 years. Our team of Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers and PCB layout designers use the latest CAD software and modeling tools to develop complex products that cater to the most technical design requirements in modern-day testing.

INTELLIGENT DESIGN

Our engineers focus on applying best-practice design principals to create clean and comprehensive test solutions that ensure repeatable, reliable test results without breaking the bank. We can apply known working design concepts to new projects when available or engineer fully customized test solutions from the ground-up when necessary.

Mechanical Engineering

  • Latest Solid Edge software
  • Custom relief cutouts for SMT components located close to test points
  • Backing plates mounted to the opposite side of the DUT board prevent flexing of high force and high pin count test sockets
  • Integrate heater blocks, air-flow channels, thermocouples, and more into most test solutions
  • Contact all sides of your DUT simultaneously during test
  • Compact designs observe spatial requirements such as optical focal distances or proximity of other components.

PCB Engineering

  • Latest PADS software
  • Downstream CAM350
  • Blueprint software
  • Dogbone, blind, and buried vias
  • Controlled Impedance
  • Matched Trace Length
  • Matched Thickness
  • FR4, ROGERS, and FLEX PCBs

Connector Savers

The act of repeatedly connecting and disconnecting a fragile high-speed connector can cause significant wear and put physical stress on each component in a multi-board test stack up, reducing the reliability of the connection. “Connector Savers” are installed to bridge the connection between board to board interfaces and preserve the life span of the mating connector, reducing the need to re-spin new boards or replace worn out connectors between test cycles.

Pitch Translators & Adapters

Save time and money in re-spinning complex load boards, evaluation boards, and breakout boards that are designed for one pitch but needed for products of a different pitch. Our pitch translation test sockets and adapter boards translate signals between devices with pitches down to 0.3 to any pitch or pad position on your existing test board without compromising electrical performance. They can also be used to adapt compression mount test sockets with through-hole and PGA based interfaces.

Lateral Contact Methods

Pogo pins are traditionally used in a vertical configuration, standing upright between the bottom of your device under test and a pad on the test board. Complex modules with inputs located on the sides can be tested using sockets with horizontally loaded pogo pins housed in a floating pin block that engages the UUT’s edges.

Universal Configurations

Apply a single test solution to many test scenarios sharing similar test requirements with a Motherboard/Daughtercard configuration or by using a universal array-based test socket. Developing a long-term test platform capable of accepting multiple device types and footprints can improve your cost of ownership and reduce your cost of test.
